What a busy couple of days last weekend! I photographed a wedding on Saturday and then hosted a surprise 80th birthday party for my Papa on Sunday. He was totally surprised…yea! You know how hard it is to pull off a surprise party…not to mention gathering his 6 grown children in the same place at the same time…talk about a challenge! I even managed to get most of his grandchildren here and all 6 of his great grandchildren were here. He was so happy and so cute. When he walked through the door and everyone yelled, “surprise” he just smiled and calmly waved to everyone…of course all the while thanking everyone for being here and proclaiming how grateful he was that the Lord allowed him to be here.
Believe it or not, I actually took the night off … as far as the food was concerned. Yep, I sure did! And I enjoyed it too! I left all of that up to Mr. Jerry and his fine BBQ catering service…yummy! We feasted on ribs, chicken, mac and cheese, coleslaw, rolls and oh yeah, I did cook the baked beans and made my Papa’s cake. Now you have to admit…that is a pretty neat cake! Anyhow, that was the way to go. Mr. Jerry brought everything from the food and plates to the cups, ice and tea and everything in between. Be sure to e-mail him for your next gathering and take a break like I did : ) It was well worth it! Thanks Mr. Jerry!
Surprise! My Papa turns 80…
March 10, 2008My Mother wrote and shared a “short story” commemorating the honorable rise and distinguished achievements of her Dad’s career in the electrical field … you did a great job Mom! I created a video slide show set to music for my Papa that included photos and memories dating back to his childhood. I played it on the big screen for all of the guests to watch. It produced a few of tears and plenty of laughter! This is a fantastic was to honor someone that you love. I can create on for you too if you have an occasion that you will be in need of one…weddings, birthdays, engagements, anniversaries…I do it all! Just send me a request and I’ll get right to work.
I’d like to say a special thanks to all of you family and friends for joining me in the celebration of Jack Pappy’s 80th birthday. It was a night to remember. Happy Birthday Papa! I love you!!!
