So, if you haven’t already heard…my sister and Mike are getting married! Yippee!!! We kinda like Mike…he is good people…gold teeth and all! ;-) We are so happy to have him become an official part of our family! Welcome Mike! We love you!
I have to share a quick story about my sister. As many of you know, my sister and I tended to bump heads for many years but I am proud to say that since we became Mothers we have related to each other in a way that sisters should. At this stage in our lives we are great friends and that warms my heart! When my sister called to tell me about the proposal (which I will be sharing in another Blog along with their engagement photos) she also had a request. My sister said some things to me that evening that touched my heart deeply! I was actually sitting in the parking lot waiting to go into the Free To Succeed Tour with David Jay when she called. She proceeded to tell me how much she loved me and how much I meant to her and that she respected me more than anyone she has ever known (and a few other things that I will keep private between the two of us) and that as much as she wanted me to photograph her wedding she thought it more important that I stand up for her as her Matron of Honor. Okay, so at this point I am almost in tears and having to “suck it up” because I was, after all, getting ready to meet David Jay! I wanted to look my best! ;-) And as much as what she said touched my heart the first thing that came out was “Well, who is going to photograph the wedding?” She said that she didn’t know but that we would work out those details later on…I sigh and sniffle…”Okay, thank you and of course I’ll stand up for you.” Now, I had to run because it was time to go in…
I just kept replaying over in my mind the beautiful things that my sister said to me and realizing that I just might be “her person.” For those of you Grey’s Anatomy fans…you know exactly what I am talking about! I was genuinely honored by the way in which she chose to ask me to stand up for her but in the back of my mind…I really wanted to photograph this wedding!!! It will be quite a colorful, unique affair and I had visions of what the wedding photos would look like…yes, already! So, I was in a dilemma…what to do? After several conversations, we ultimately we decided that I should photograph the big day. I will still be right there beside her in every aspect of the day…just behind the lens capturing the emotions of happiness and celebration. This is what I do. It’s what I love and what better gift to give my sister and Mike than the everlasting memories of their wedding day! So, yours truly, will be photographing the Bruce Wedding next June at the Fountain of Youth in St. Augustine.
In preparation for what’s to come we just completed Cameron’s Bridal session. The two of us had a blast doing this shoot! We stopped traffic a few times, climbed a few fences and cars (well, I did anyways) and ultimately ended up with some incredible shots! She looked absolutely stunning and I think that her happiness and joy is easily identified in the essence of these photographs. I hope that you enjoy a sneak peak…
