I have made a decision to start sharing something other than my life and work on my Blog. As many of you know I love to cook and bake…it is my “other” passion. So, in the spirit of sharing I will try to post a recipe for y’all once in a while along with pictures :-) because I hate cookbooks with no pictures! Part of the thrill of picking a recipe is seeing what the final product will look like and tasting it with your eyes first…know what I mean? Let’s start off with a recipe that I made this morning. I actually make it quite often and it is a favorite around my house. It is quick and easy and especially great when you have overnight guests! So, without further adieu, here it is…
Breakfast Quiche
9 beaten eggs
1 pound of crumbled bacon or sausage (I prefer sausage)
2 cup of cheddar cheese
2 cups of mozzarella cheese
3 cups of milk
1 teaspoon dry mustard (or fresh if you don’t have dry)
3/4 teaspoon of basil
3/4 teaspoon of oregano
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon of pepper
8 slices of bread cubed
Preheat oven to 350*
Cook sausage until no longer pink. Drain. Place bread cubes into 13×9 greased dish. Sprinkle sausage over bread and then sprinkle cheeses over warm sausage.
In a separate bowl, whisk together eggs, milk and seasonings and then pour over casserole. Cover and refrigerate overnight (or at least 2 hours).
Remove from refrigerator for at least 30 minutes prior to baking. Remove lid and bake for 50-60 minutes or until slightly brown on top. Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
Dawn, this looks absolutely delicious!
