Sunday we decided to pack a picnic lunch and take the boys down to St. Augustine for the day. It’s funny because the last time that we did this Austin was Ayden’s age! I was explaining to him in the car that we brought him down to the identical spot around the same age that Ayden is, we packed a picnic and laid on the grass in front of the Fort and we wheeled him around in the exact same stroller to enjoy the sunshine and breeze on that day. And of course, how I snapped a ton of photos that I would show him when we got back home (of course 35mm on my Canon Rebel G back then, my how technology has advanced…even in the last 5 years). Thank the Lord that I made the switch to digital because honestly I was not easily convinced but once I gave in my life became a hundred times easier in regards to my photography. Whew!
The boys rolled down the hills and played in the grass for what seemed like forever. I sat quietly observing their joy and innocence. It is funny how the most insignificant things that our children do bring a permanent smile to our faces. I absolutely love to watch Ayden chew his food. The shape that his cute, pouty little lips take on just warms my heart from the inside out! I love to watch his jaw line and the way his nose twitches with the muscles moving in his face and the “MMM” sound effect that he makes when something tastes good. The way he sucks on that “stinky binky” and laughs as if it brings him sincere happiness. I love to watch Austin’s mind working…yes I can see it all over his face without him speaking a single word! I love to look at his huge, bright, brown eyes and see his world reflecting in the catch light of his eyes! I love the intensity that he speaks to me with…everything that he discusses is of the utmost importance to him! I adore the way that the boys relate to each other and the way that Ayden worships his older brother. I melt when I see Ayden clinging on to his bothers leg for dear life as if he is pleading, “take me with, I want to be like you, do what you do, I love you.” My kids are my joy, my inspiration, my love, my life!
