A surprise? No, not for my Mom…what if she decided not to show up…I couldn’t risk that! ;-) So, I hosted a non-surprise party in honor of her milestone 50th birthday and what an amazing night it was! We had an incredible turnout and she spent the evening surrounded by people who love her. It was an incredibly special celebration and I want to personally thank each and every one of you, family and friends, that made this night possible!
We feasted on a catered Chinese dinner which was fabulous and uniquely different. The guests seemed to really enjoy it and it just happens to be one of ours and Moms favorite little Chinese houses. We enjoyed a vast variety of dishes from Moo-Goo Gai Pan to Beef and Broccoli to House Special Chow-Mi-Fun and a little bit of everything in between. It was really delicious. After all, who doesn’t like Chinese food? And as party favors…I made up single smores bags for each guest to enjoy out at our fire pit.
My sister made an awesome 50th birthday cake and matching cupcakes to boot. Be sure to check out her new Love~Bake MySpace page for some really distinctive baked items for your next big event. I made my famous raspberry swirls cookies and carrot cake cupcakes…there certainly wasn’t a lack of sugar, that’s for sure! And on top of that, minus a little technical difficulty, we consumed 16 pounds of scrumptious strawberries dipped into the melting chocolate fountain. Talk about sweet…
Mom was truly touched by the number of people who came to honor her on this special evening. It genuinely meant the world to her! She mentioned that it made her feel really special. I created a custom “guest book” adorned with pictures of Mom from her recent Birthday photo session (with yours truly) and all of the attendees signed their best wishes for her to keep and reflect on for a lifetime. Of course I put together a slideshow from the 50 years past and we laughed at many of the “old” photos and new ones alike. My Mother was an incredibly beautiful woman in her youth and it was nice for her to be reminded of just how beautiful she was. Not that she isn’t a beautiful person still but in her earlier years she was a total knock out!
This was sure to be a night that she will carry with her forever. And again, I thank all of you who joined us! Mom, I love you and hope that your 50th birthday was all that you had hoped for and more!
Looks like you had a fantastic time and that a lot of love and effort went into making this a moment to remember. I’d love to know about the little displayed albums you had tied with ribbons of your mom and boys…they were adorable.
So glad the party went so wonderfully! The photos are fantastic and your sister’s cake and cupcakes are gorgeous! You have such a talented family! :)
P.S. – where did you end up getting your photo book from?
Dawn,
You threw one awsome celebration. It was a wonderful evening. I am sure we will all remember. I enjoyed seeing every one. Thank you.
Love always,
Your 2nd Mom, Lisa
