As most of you already know…I was born and raised here, in Jacksonville. I love my hometown and I will never leave. I honestly can’t even fathom living anywhere else. I don’t mind visiting other places but I always look forward to coming home! There is, however, one little place that I love and it’s not too far down the road but it feels like a mini vacation spot and that is Downtown St. Augustine! It genuinely is one of my favorite spots to go and enjoy the benefits of being a Floridian!
This past Sunday we loaded up with our boys and my nephew and we brought my Mom along for the day this time too…she needs to get out of the house more often! Instead of packing a lunch this trip we opted for 5…5 dollar foot longs, that is! That commercial keeps dancing through my mind and I love the girl behind the counter who starts bopping her head along with the Subway dancers that scurry in and start their Subway line dance. Go ahead, admit it…you know that you’ve caught yourself walking around the house singing 5…5 dollar footlongs. It’s catchy. ;-) Anyhow, we purchased our pocketbook pleasing lunch and we were off…to the fort for a tasty picnic.
The kids laughed and played and Jeff and I laughed at Mom playing football with the kids…she has a decent arm I tell ya! Family times, like these, are what makes me tick. It’s what I live for. I have a tendency to be quite emotional about life’s simplest pleasures and sitting on a blanket in front of the old fort, with my husband, watching my kids enjoy life is about as simple, yet exhilarating as it gets! I’m not hard to please. : ) The Subway toasted BMT wasn’t hurting my feelings either! Yum!
After a while we mosied on down the waterway and enjoyed the amazing breeze and scenery. Then we headed down St. George street for some photo ops and sight seeing…as if we haven’t seen it all a million times before. Even so, it is still a place I love!
I’m with you, I love St. Augustine! Looks like you had a great family day!
Awh, I loved watching the image slideshow. Those turned out great.
I haven’t been to St. Augustine since I was a little girl but your pictures made me want to go back right now!!!
Your mom is so full of energy. I love St. Augustine too and am so pround to say it’s my hometown. Its nice to be able to say ” I was born and raised here!” I too can never imagine living elsewhere.
