This past weekend my Nanny and I packed our bags and headed out for a weekend getaway to neighboring Savannah. Unfortunately it poured most of the day on Saturday. In fact, the streets flooded so bad that we almost got bogged down with water half way up our vehicle…it was insane! As evening rolled around it finally cleared up and we took an afternoon stroll down River Street. All I could think about was how AMAZING it would be to photograph in Savannah. The hundreds of textures, stones, bricks, granite, marble, alleys, columns…the backdrops are endless and incredible! We saw two weddings underway in the center squares of Savannah. I had to dig deep for self control and refrain from jumping out and snagging a few shots. ;-)
We took advantage of no timelines or responsibilities and we slept in on Sunday. We rose up around 9:00am and headed to our favorite place for breakfast…Panera. Then we toured the city for a second time as the sun replaced the rain and we were able to take in all of the historic district. The tour was incredibly informative and interesting. Our tour guide was gut busting hilarious! She kept us in stitches on both tours. The architecture that adorns the historic district of Savannah is absolutely breathtaking! If you ever have a chance to visit, I would highly recommend that you do so!
We had made our reservations to dine at Paula Deen’s, The Lady & Son’s restaurant at 3:00 Sunday afternoon for her Sunday buffet. Nanny and I both adore Paula Deen so we were excited to have the chance to dine in her restaurant. And it lived up to it’s reputation for fine southern dining…even as a buffet! And I am gonna be a complete copy cat and adopt Paula Deen’s sayin’ because it totally suits me…Put some South in your mouth! The end.
Enjoy the snaps that I took with my little P&S…it still serves it’s purpose.
Aww I am glad you had a good time, it's memories like this you will cherish for ever!
Looks like ya'll had a blast! You are too cute! I am so glad you got to put some south in your mouth! I am a tad jealous I haven't been there yet!
Thanks for posting the Savannah pics, they brought back a lot of memories! Many of the pics were from the blocks around the townhouse where I lived in Jones St.
Oh fun! Sorry yall had to deal with the rain, but at least it cleared up for ya some. I have been wanting to go to Paula's restaurant. I just love her!
I told you it was beautiful…to say the least :) What an amazing place to go and visit! Glad you & Nanny had a great time, minus the rain..
