Two years ago when I met Mallory for her pre-wedding consult, I knew right away that we hit it off. Karma, on the other hand…she was shy that day…clinging to her Granny’s leg. I took her hand and walked her into Ayden’s nursery and introduced her to “my baby” who happen to be sitting with his Granny in his rocking chair. She smiled and I knew that we were friends. Mallory and George were my clients at that point. I was excited about their wedding and knew that it had to be unique and awesome…after all, they were getting married at the Jacksonville Zoo. It was better than awesome actually!
Mallory and I were in regular contact regarding her wedding pictures. We developed a bond over time. When the day arrived that Mallory was coming to pick up her final wedding package I was excited to see her. When she arrived I knew immediately that she wasn’t 100% herself. We spoke briefly and she left with her wedding package in hand. I played over and over in my head…”Is she upset with me? Does she not love her wedding album? Did I do something wrong?” Then I decided that I would just simply write her and let her know that if something was on her mind regarding the wedding photos or me that I would be more than happy to hear her out. Looking back, I believe it was that e-mail that led us down a path from a professional relationship to a genuine friendship. I adore her and her family!
Since those days, I have had the pleasure of photographing The Deacon Family, Maternity, Newborn and now the new Deacon Family of four! I already had an affection for Karma…I mean seriously, how could you not? You have seen her pictures before right? But the baby…oh Lord! He melts my heart. He is so jolly. Like a warm little butterball bursting with personality. And I have a weakness for long eyelashes…his are killer! By the way, why is it that the boys get the best eyelashes? They are more important to us girls! ;-) Anyhow, Karma was polishing up on her math skills as she kept track of every frame that I shot! That’s 2. That’s 5. Only one more! I had to make repetitive deals with her but that was okay because not only are we friends but Karma informed me that I am her family. Okay. I’ll take it!
At one time Mallory and George were my clients. They are now my friends. I love it when that happens! I am so proud of their little family and I wish them all of the success and happiness that this life has to offer. I love to see people thrive in life and build a family while at the same time remaining in love. That makes my heart happy! It also made my heart happy to show George my mad dancing “skillz” on the dance floor with his wife at April and Kellens wedding! LOL!!! ;-) Never underestimate the photog’s dancing skillz brotha! Love y’all.
