When it comes time to saying our blessing before we eat supper the kids always shriek at the thought of their Papa leading the blessing. Why? Well, because he finds it necessary to not only bless the food that we are about to eat but every single relative (living and dead), our cousins cousins cousin and their families, the hungry and needy and of course all of our troops and their crews and their families family and their kids kids…you get the picture! ;-) His blessing take about 15 minutes and then supper is cold! By the time we all holler AMEN! the kids plates are clean and they are already back to playing their games. Okay…so I am exaggerating a little bit…about the kids…but NOT about the blessing.

I remember the first e-mail that I ever got asking me “how do you do that?” I laughed and thought…are you seriously asking me this? I responded promptly with an extensive explanation and then kindly thanked her for thinking enough of my work to want to know “how I did that.” Soon enough those similar types of e-mails came more often.
My sister and I could not be more different. We are like night and day in personality. But we also share some commonalities…like our love for food and baking and our loud mouths! Yeah, I can admit it. No shame in my game y’all. I just blame it on my genes. I get it honestly. But back to the food and baking… my sister is an extremely talented cake creator. She has blown me away this past year with some of her masterpieces. We are both stay at home Moms and we love to be in our kitchens. That’s how we roll.
We were sitting at my sisters dinner table eating supper when I got up to fix a glass of tea … my tea because her tea is unsweet … eww! I glanced at the refrigerator door and laughed out loud at what I saw…I laughed REALLY LOUD!!! Who is this in this picture and why is it hanging on her fridge for all the world to see? I picked it up for closer inspection before I stuck my foot in my mouth about the people in the photograph. When I figured out who it was I laughed even harder. And louder. Can’t you just hear me now??? OMGosh! It’s Mike (my brother-in-law) in this hideous photo. WHY? Why would he and Little Dave take this picture? Together? In those clothes? I knew that there had to be a good story behind this! I asked my sister to please share the details…
