I was on my way to Nashville and Imaging USA. The flight was full and I landed in a middle seat…not my favorite! I actually prefer the window because I like to look at the scenery taking off and landing. Anyhow, about 1/4 way through the flight the attendants came around to offer a lite snack. I chose Ritz cheese crackers and the lady to my right chose Graham crackers. I wanted both (I know…imagine that!) and later requested Graham crackers too but they were fresh out. A conversation sparked between myself and the sweet lady to my right. We had several things in common and seemed to hit it off right away! We talked about family, traveling and eventually about photography.
Her name was Sue and she reminded me of my sweet Granny. She gushed about the love she has for her grandchildren and I could just see her eyes dance with happiness! The kids were scheduled for a visit soon and she decided that I might just be the person to capture this rare opportunity of having them all together. You see there is an extra special little fella in the mix. His name is Nicholas. Now, obviously Sue adores each of her grandchildren equally but Nicholas is their miracle baby. When Sue explained to me the circumstances surrounding little Nicholas health I could just feel the longing in her heart to hold this little guy close to her and never let go! She was thrilled about their upcoming visit and just prayed that all would go according to plan and little Nicholas would be healthy enough to endure the flight. Soon she would have all 6 grandkids wrapped around her legs and just the thought of that alone tickled her pink!
The Lord was listening and sure enough Sue found herself surrounded by 6 smiling faces! We met up on Sunday. This was a special day and a long awaited dream coming to fruition. Sue was beaming. I wrapped my arms around her and felt the joy that she was feeling. I was genuinely happy to see her again. I quickly witnessed 6 personalities bubble to the surface and I did my best to document each of these special little people! Sue, I know how much this day meant to you and I am so honored to have been the person whom you chose to capture this fleeting moment in time. You are truly blessed by these children and I am blessed to have sat in that middle seat next to you on January 9th, 2010. We were meant to meet and for that I am grateful! I hope that these images will make your eyes dance with happiness for many years to come. Love, Dawn
So sweet! What a special day it must have been for BOTH of you! :)
Dawn!! That story just made my day!
What a beautiful story, Dawn! How wonderful to be able to give her such an amazing gift.
Such beautiful photos and what a touching story. You know I’m a believer in the “meant to be” type situations. It’s so great that your plane ride (and bad seat option) brought the two of you together so that you could so perfectly document this special day. :)
