Normally photographers hate to be on the other side of the camera. I am actually the exact opposite. For the longest time I lived on the other side of the camera. In fact, I dreamed of being a model from the time that I was a little girl. As you can tell…that didn’t exactly pan out for me. ;-) Recently I got some news that sent me over the moon (I promise that I will share the details soon). I needed some current images of myself and the simple fact was, I didn’t have any. So, I called on my friend and fantastic wedding photographer Ron Wilson for a photo shoot exchange.
We packed our gear and headed out to a location unknown. We figured we would eventually come across “the spot” and we did. We entered a set of open gates and proceeded over to explore an awesome dirt mound overgrown by wheat grass…yes I did just say a dirt mound was awesome. Perfect actually! I climbed up to the top and then I saw him…the farm owner…headed our way on his big ole’ tractor to inquire what in the world we were doing trespassing on his property. I couldn’t make it down the mound in time so I asked Ron to simply explain to him that we loved his dirt mound and just wanted to shoot a few photographs up there. Ron pleaded our case to the gentle old soul and respectfully asked for just 5 or 10 minutes of time on his property. The gentleman dismissed Ron’s minimal request and invited us to stay until 5:00 as long as we didn’t take anything. Oh and he kindly added the fact that he certainly wouldn’t mind at all if I wanted to take my clothes off! Ron just laughed and thanked him. I did too…with my clothes still on. ;-)
We loved the location and shot there for most of the day. I admit that I thoroughly enjoyed being back on that side of the camera for a while. It was fun and freeing. And I couldn’t have had a better photographer to swap shots with. Ron is a wonderful person. Kind, genuine, talented and we just happen have a ton in common. We had a blast. No pressure shooting. Creative freedom. Ron, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to shoot this session with me. I love the images! You captured exactly what I had in mind. I thank you my friend.

Ron did a great job but you made his job easy!
I love, love, love these pictures, Dawn! You definitely made his job easy! I know Ron did the pictures, and your work is just as fantastic. How do you guys expose so perfectly for skin? The skin is always so soft, bright, and creamy in all your pictures, and I’m always trying to figure out how you do it, while still keeping the pictures crystal clear sharp.
