I have always resisted “studio settings” because my comfort zone is outdoors. I know what I want to produce when I am outside and exactly how to accomplish it…most of the time. Take me inside and my nerves get a bit rattled. I know that I can pull it off but it is a much more difficult concept for me than natural lighting. I know pro-studio photographers feel the exact opposite! Isn’t it funny how we all develop our own little preferences?
Here’s the problem that I faced this year…shooting newborns and small kiddos outdoors is difficult and sometimes impossible in the cooler Florida months. I do not want to have to turn away any other sessions due to cold weather. That leaves me little option other than exploring possible studio work. So, Dawn McCarthy Studios is in the preliminary design phase.
I couldn’t have asked for a more precious model for my first mock studio session. You may remember Miss Adeley from last month. She is back for round 2…studio style…although towards the end you will notice that I absolutely could not resist the outdoors for just a few frames. ;-) Keeping me inside is like taking candy from a baby…it’s a difficult task! But I am kinda happy with the beginning of studio exploration. I admittedly have a ways to go. We’ll just have to see where it leads me. Who knows?
Dang girl…these look great. I’m a studio photographer that gets all sweaty when I get asked to shoot a beach wedding…that sky and sunlight scare the beejeebies out of me! You’ll learn to love the studio (i think!) your first image is adorable! Welcome.
Dawn, these are beeeeeeeeeeeautiful!!! I’m with you – I like to shoot outside! Shooting inside causes me great distress. But these are goregous!
So many things I love…. the green and white hat – too cute! The pea pod. I’ve seen these, but no idea where to get me one – would you like to share your source???? :) Also the giant wooden blocks – those are so cool!
The gorgeous little baby ain’t bad either. :) :) :)
Swoon! These are fantastic! Where you inside using natural lighting or studio lights? They are just beautiful! I just got that white blanket and can’t wait to get my hands on my next newborn! :)
These photos are AMAZING! I love them! Studio work completely intimidates me as well – I’d love to know your secret here. Wow! Great job!
