I am always learning as I go. What I learned from Heather’s {Walk The Shot} was that I completely underestimated the time frame that this workshop would take…like bad! ;-) We didn’t end until 12:35am but I said “it ain’t over ’till it’s over.” I worked really hard to create a workbook that would not only keep us on track but not present an opportunity for us to miss discussing a single topic. There is so much to cover and for those of you who know me so well and say to yourself…“I am sure that you talked a lot”…yes, you are right! However, I must give myself credit for not allowing the conversation to steer away from photography or business hardly ever…if at all. In fact, I think that the only time that Sheila and I chatted personally was on our trips to and from the restroom. This is difficult for me but people are spending a considerable amount of their hard earned money to learn from me and I am there to teach. Period. I am determined to give 100+% within the time frame alloted…Every. Single. Time. I can only hope that Sheila and Heather would agree that I did.
Sheila decided that we would use her as our model because she is expecting her own little princess and this was a great opportunity to get some maternity shots. And aside from getting completely chewed out and threatened by some crazy lady who didn’t speak very clear English, I think that we managed to capture some beautiful images. It is an effort to try to remember that not only am I shooting these images but in between I need to explain each one. I had to reprimand myself a couple of times for deleting non-keepers without first showing them to Sheila and explaining why it didn’t work and why it wouldn’t be an image that I would keep. But I finally fell into a groove and I think it really helped Sheila grasp so many of the concepts so much better by providing a visual. I know a visual always helps me.
The other lesson that I learned with Heather was that we needed to have more food on the itinerary! Duh. So, Sheila and I made certain that we kept our bellies full so that we could keep our brains functioning. I am so happy with the outcome of this business endeavor and I certainly look forward to all of my upcoming {Walk The Shot} workshops! This type of scenario plays right into my personality and love for what I do. I feel extremely fortunate that people have entrusted me to share my ways with them. It is a huge honor and an even greater responsibility. My hope is that Heather, Sheila and the future {Walk The Shot} attendees will walk away feeling infused, inspired, invigorated and more importantly like they walked away with even more than what they originally anticipated. This is my goal and my commitment to all attendees.
Sheila, you are beautiful and glowing even in 90 degree heat! Lots of love, many thanks and best wishes for the new baby and the budding business! XOXO ~ Dawn
Haha!! I literally laughed out loud when I read the part about the crazy lady yelling at us. :-) I learned tons and had even more fun. Thanks so much for the opportunity and I promise to send you a more fitting note of thanks very soon!!
Beautiful, glowing mumma to be!
