It seems crazy that a week has already come and gone since Sheila and I {Walked The Shot}. I know that a 24 hour time period is the exact same as it has always been but I tell ya…it sure does feel like we get cheated of a few hours somehow or another this day and time. Every time I turn around it is Friday again. This weekend FLEW by because it was a celebration of my baby boys birthday, my birthday and my Nanny’s birthday (actually hers is today). We had a beautiful, relaxing weekend by the pool. A much needed break.
Anyhow…I was so touched by Sheila’s recap of our time together and I wanted to share it with y’all. Thanks again Sheila!!! I was so excited to {Walk The Shot} with you!!! And I can’t wait to meet the little Princess. : )
As I sit here munching on my Haribo Gummi Bears courtesy of Dawn’s fabulous “Swag Bag” from Sunday’s workshop, I can’t help but be reminded of why I chose to Spend-a-Day with her in the first place. And even though this is probably the most unremarkable goody in the bag, it would only appear that way to those who don’t know Dawn. You see, Haribo Gummi Bears are Dawn’s favorite candy. She even had her own bag stashed at her desk for those late night post-production sessions when we got back to her house! Much like her consults, sessions, and countless blogs…Dawn goes above and beyond to use a little of her own personality to connect with her clients. And lucky for her, she’s a pretty likeable gal! J
Beyond that, Dawn has done a FAN-TABULOUS job of condensing a LOT of great information and tools into her one day workshop. Mind you, we still spent a whopping 12 hours together (10 am to 10 pm)…but she literally touched on every aspect of her business and shooting style that you could think of. And guess what? If you don’t think of it until later, she is more than happy to answer questions AFTER your official day is over. For me, that level of commitment and support is so reassuring. I have always had my doubts about taking my photography “hobby” to the next level, but Dawn may prove to be the little “push” I needed. She reminded me time and time again that everyone had to start somewhere. And by sharing her own personal experiences over the last 6 years, I couldn’t help but feel a connection with her from the beginning.
Dawn, thank you SO much for all you have and will teach me on my journey to becoming someone I can legitimately call a “photographer”. I hope that we can continue to develop our professional and personal relationships through upcoming shoot clubs, SmugMug meetings, and so forth. You’re the best!!
Sincerely,
Sheila
Oh my goodness Dawn!!!!! Haribo Gummi bears were the only ones we ate growing up, and still are my favorite. My dad lived in Germany for several years growing up (army brat) and they are his favorite candy ever. His special “Grandpa thing” with my kids is sharing Gummi bears with them! Although he is always on the look out for a bag that says Made in Germany on it, he’ll still eat the ones that say made in Spain or Hungary. He insists the real deal German ones are even better than what we get nowadays here in the states. My favorite flavor is the clear, followed by the red and green. I love that it’s in your swag bag. I knew I loved ya for a reason!
Sheila thank you so much for sharing your perspective and take on your time spent with Dawn! You are a beautiful glowing momma to be! Many blessings to you!!
P.S Dawn, did you know that Target and World market carry 3lb and 5lb bags of Haribo Gummi Bears? I have been known to send one to my dad for father’s day. I don’t know if there is any gift that would make his day like a huge bag of those! :)
