This past Sunday we loaded up the kids and my Nanny and headed to Orlando to meet up with my in-laws for a fun family day at Sea World. My hubbys twin brother and his girlfriend had flown in from New York and joined us as well. We had all kind of been keeping a secret from her regarding an ulterior motive to the day. My brother-in-law was all set to propose to her at the Shamu show that day. Once we arrived at the park the twins disappeared for quite a while trying to set this thing up…Casey was none the wiser. The Shamu show didn’t work out so they had to move on to plan B. They hit up the Sea Lion and Otter show for a little cooperation and it just so happens that they were game. So…the gig was on.
We caught the whale and dolphin show and walked around to a few attractions and then headed over to grab a good seat before the stadium filled up. We (my sister-in-law and I) got the kids (all 4 of them) situated…boy is that ever a tremendous effort at a theme park! First of all, no strollers are allowed at most of the attractions…even the walk through ones…which is such a hassle because you have to unload the kids and gather all of your belongings out of the stroller and lug everything with you….a royal pain in the behind! Anyhow, we were are all set and watching this incredible mime from the stands. This guy was a riot! No need in trying to explain because it was one of those “you had to be there” type deals. Anyhow…hilarious!!! So about 5 minutes prior to show time the mime comes running up the stands and grabs Casey by the arm…she was saying, “No, I don’t want to go.” I was laughing! He leads her down to ground level and starts to mime his heart pounding and arms reached wide…she doesn’t get it…it was great! So, he takes off again, leaving her standing there, into the stands and of course comes to grab Brian. After the fact she said that she still really didn’t think anything of it. He and Brian head down to where Casey is standing and he basically lets Brian take the floor. Brian gets down on one knee and as they say…the rest is history! She said yes! It was a fabulous moment and I must admit that I was a little jealous because his twin brother…aka my Hubby…surely didn’t bother to go to any grand effort to propose to me…but 8 years and two kids later we are still married. And honestly, I am far too nosey and ask way too many questions for him to pull something like that off without me having a clue. I would have been asking questions from the minute that they wondered off into the park without the rest of us…but that’s just me. :-)
I asked Casey what she thought when the mime came and picked her and she said that she didn’t think a thing of it because she is always getting selected because of her red hair…isn’t that interesting? She said that it really didn’t sink in until Brian was in front of her and he reached into his pocket. What a wonderful way to start off your engagement! It truly was a fantastic moment and I am so thrilled that I was right there to capture each and every moment play by play. Way to go Brian! I am so proud of you and I really admire you for making that a day that Casey will never forget!!! That was such a special way to tell the woman that you love that you would be honored to have her spend the rest of her life with you. I know that it must have meant the world to her!!! Congratulations to both of you and I look forward to the main event. Lots of love…
