“Dylan is my friend Mom.” Austin was in kindergarten and Dylan was a name that I began to hear often. As the holidays rolled around Ayden and I headed up to school to share in a Thanksgiving feast with Austin. I happen to sit beside Dylan’s Mom and her precious little girl Blake. We talked…a lot. We had several thing in common including our similar dislike for a few things “school related.” When I left that day I thought to myself “I hope that Dylan and Austin will be classmates for many years to come. They are a good match. And I like Dylan’s Mom…we are actually a lot alike.” That’s how it happened…a “McFriendship” was born. The McCarthy’s and The McWilliams.
Later that year, The McWilliam’s entire family joined us for Austin’s birthday and we talked…a lot. That’s it…McFriends forever! The rest is history. Blake and Ayden are gonna get married one day…currently Blake wears the pants in that relationship. We will see how long it takes for the tables to turn. ;-) Austin and Dylan are the best of buddies! And my hubby tries to pretend that he is still a teenager by keeping up with the latest concerts that Brooke is interested in…”Oh yeah. I saw them in 1993.” Michael flies over my house in his helicopter and laughs that I pay absolutely no attention to his spot lights beaming down…in all honesty…I swear that I have never really seen them. And it is weird that I haven’t because I am the nosiest person alive and I would have totally been running outside to see who was in trouble. LOL! Shaunna and I are your typical stay at home Moms. The major difference between us…patience. Shaunna has a lot…me…not so much. She says that’s because she has 3 kids and once you reach 3 you are outnumbered…patience becomes you. More than likely I will never be outnumbered.
The McWilliams are the epitome of the all American modern family…cool, stylish and fun! I love spending time with them and I certainly love having them in front of my camera. I mean seriously…look at them! Shaunna and Michael are what every husband and wife should aspire to be…three kids later. They are happy. In love. Best friends. Their life revolves around family time and activities but they never fail to nurture the relationship between the two of them. I love it when people are still in love through the ups, downs and in betweens of life. And let’s face it…they are a smokin’ hot couple!
After this session we all went out for supper. Y’all should have seen Blake and Ayden…they are so cute together! Austin and Dylan…well, they are always up to something sneaky. Brooke…she was grossing us all out with her awkward food pallet. The girl eats some down right nasty stuff. She is not afraid to try anything…and I mean anything. Shaunna and I had to turn our heads a few times. Michael and Jeff talked about hunting and land…typical men. Finally Michael said that it was time to go. I agreed and added that even if we weren’t ready I was certain that everyone else in the restaurant was happy to see us go. That’s what happens when families with kids dine out together. We had a blast though! And that’s how it happened…The McWilliams and The McCarthy’s…McFriends for life.
