Remember as a child your parents always telling you “time flies.” Yet it always felt like the next Christmas was light years away. Once you have kids of your own many of those tales that your parents used to tell you all of the sudden make perfect sense! Time is a treasured gift but also a losing battle for parents. When we first have babies we can’t wait for their next big step…“Oh, I can’t wait until he coos. I’m so excited to see him roll over. OMGoodness! He’s walking now and eating solid foods.” All of the sudden baby #2 arrives and we long to freeze the hands of time. “Oh, if he could just stay this little forever.”
I have been transferring home videos over to DVD’s for the past 2 weeks. I am so incredibly thankful that I took the time to video the most simple moments of all…my boys breathing, newborn cries, cooing at me in the middle of the night, baby bubbles, their heartwarming laughter, the way their cheeks and jaws moved when they ate. It’s a blessing to have those videos to remind me of the most pure love that is a child. I encourage all parents to video the “simple moments” regularly because as hard as it is to admit…you do forget. I also keep a separate Word document for each of my boys dated with all of the funny things that they say. It’s so fun to read over with them on occasion.
Speaking of time flying… Little Buck is already 6 months old. He is the jolliest little fella around. Always full of big smiles, happy laughter and a tongue that just won’t stay in his mouth. I love the way he communicates. He is obviously adorable and has been a true blessing to his precious parents. I had to laugh because we tried to get him to sit up during this session and it just wasn’t happening. Two days later…guess who was sitting up all day by himself? Little rascal.
