The purpose of this Jax Shoot Club session was to be forced to shoot in high direct sun at 2:00 in the afternoon! I was excited…because as a wedding photographer this is an inevitable situation that I face and a stressful one at that. Why? Well, think about it…when you are at the beach on a beautiful sunny day gettin’ your tan on and someone says, “say cheese” and you look at the camera to smile…what happens next? Your eyes squint and you say “hang on, the sun is in my eyes.” Exactly! This poses a major problem for shooting at high noon or in the early afternoon hours. It is a true challenge to avoid squinty eyes and harsh shadows. We all dread it, which is why this was a welcomes scenario with “non-clients” and no pressure to produce. It was our chance to step outside of our comfort zone, take our time and challenge ourselves to produce high sun images in a most flattering way.
That was the plan…however…the Florida sun failed to cooperate. In fact, he just downright refused us! So, we went with what we had…a dreary overcast, cloud filled afternoon. The upside to that was the friendly and fresh faced models that we had to work with…thank ladies and groom. ;-) I also had the pleasure of meeting a new hairstylist, Sonya, who is as sweet as the day is long! Thanks for your hard work Sonya! Hope that ya’ll enjoy the images.
