As many of you have noticed…I’ve been on a personal hiatus from career photography. Life swooped in and the next thing I knew I had melted into an unplanned interim of extended pause. As the months eased into years I contemplated walking away completely. But each time I referred my clients out my heart broke a little. I kept telling myself that I’d return in just a few more months but then I’d let my mind wander down that treacherous path of self-doubt. Maybe I wasn’t cut out for this anymore? Maybe my work was no longer relevant because I’ve been absent for too long? Maybe my clients gave up on the fading promise that I would return? I could make a case for each of these scenarios but I realize that they are nothing but excuses on my part. I became idle. I became hesitant. Honestly, saying no simply became easier than saying yes. And then…my phone rang with Bridgette on the other end.
It’s an enormous compliment when a Bride chooses me to document her dream wedding. But when her Groom is equally involved in that choice it speaks volumes. I had worked with Corey before during The Nelson Wedding. When these two love birds came to me as a couple who together specifically favored me as their wedding photographer, it was in that moment that I knew it was time…time for me to return to my art form. One look at Bridgette and Corey reminded me of all the reasons why I became a wedding photographer years ago. The love between them is brilliant. It’s what life is all about.
We met in Palm Coast Friday afternoon to shoot their Engagement Session. I absolutely fell in love with the story Bridgette shared with me as to why they selected this location. Corey had taken a field trip when he was young to Washington Oaks Gardens and he never forgot the majesty of the sprawling oaks. He had decided that when the day came that he asked the woman he loved to become his wife that they would use this landscape as a backdrop. And so they did. What an endearing, fun fact for them to share with their children one day. You can’t help but marvel at the lush gardens and then when you add two gorgeous people into the mix it almost takes your breath away.
Bridgette and Corey, thank you for your trust and for allowing me the privilege of documenting your memories. It is truly my honor to be your chosen wedding photographer. I hope you view these images as a reflection of the love you feel. Enjoy!
